In anticipation of victory in the 2019 election, the South-West Zonal chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the positions of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Chief of Staff to the President and Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice .

National Vice-Chairman, South-West of the party, Dr. Eddy Olafeso made the position known last night in his remarks during the stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Lagos.

This is just as the party alleged that it has credible information of an attempt to continue to harass the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose who has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

He has since been granted bail and is currently perfecting the bail conditions.

In the communique read to journalist by the National Vice-Chairman, he said the party would resist attempt to intimidate the former governor and said it would continue to stand by him. “An injury to Ayodele Fayose is an injury to all”, he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the chairman noted that three positions being demanded for if PDP returns to power in 2019 would serve to compensate for the long years of neglect of the zone.

He recalled that the Speaker of the House of Representative position was zoned to the South-West in 2011 but it was taken away and nothing happened.

“The reverberating effect that abandonment is the reason we still have the carryover of that neglect.

“There are certain positions that are key to government and we want them. Number one of them is the SGF. There is nothing wrong in us having the SGF and having the Chief of Staff and on top of it having the Attorney-General so that we can be compensated for the denial of the past”.

Party leaders in attendance were Deputy National Chairman (South), Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, National Treasurer, Wale Aribisala, former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abiodun Olujinmi, governorship candidates of the party in Ogun and Oyo, Ladi Adebutu and Seyi Makinde; former Deputy Governors, Chief Kofo Bucknor-Akerele (Lagos); Erelu Olusola Obada (Osun) and Salmatu Badru (Ogun).

Others in attendance were Lagos PDP Chairman, Dr. Adegbola Dominic, Hon. Clement Faboyede, Barr. George Oguntuase, Hon. Muraina Ajibola (former PDP Chairman, Oyo), Senator Hosea Agboola, Elder Wole Oyelase, among others.
