On Tuesday, Governors of South West Nigeria reportedly met with former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at his Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos residence.

Although details of the meeting was not readily available to The DEFENDER, Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), had said recently that they were waiting on Tinubu before taking decision on 2023 Presidency.

The presence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy punctured insinuation that the meeting was an All Progressives Congress (APC) affair, as a source confided in this online newspaper that 2023 Presidency should be an all South West governors project and that all should partake regardless of political background.

Present at the meeting were Governor of Oyo represented by the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gbeyega Oyetola, Chairman of South West Governors and Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, was conspicuously absent at the visit to the Tinubu’s home, although he was present with his colleagues earlier at the State House Marina in the Centre of Excellence.

Last weekend, former Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation and Member House of Representatives, Hon. Bosun Oladele, said in an interview with The DEFENDER that Tinubu is the most sellable of the best candidates the APC in the region has for 2023 Presidency and that the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA’23), of which he is Secretary General, will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that he accepts to run.

Our findings showed that Tinubu has not spoken about whether he would contest or not but that, his body language appears to favour the expectation of his supporters.

“Only the time will tell because, Asiwaju is a very smart politician,” a source said in Lagos Tuesday night.
