So far, 5 Southerners, 1 Northern have declared to seek APC presidential ticket for 2023 – Report

With the declaration Saturday of Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation and Dan Amana Daura, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the number of candidates so far officially known seeking the 2023 presidency under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is now six.

Other aspirants rumoured to have presidential ambition but are yet to declare their intention include: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

According to a media report, all the aspirants except Governor of Kogi State, Barr. Yahaya Bello, are from the southern part of the country.

Although the APC is yet to zone the presidential slot, there are speculations it would zone it to the South which comprises the South-west, South-east and South-south geo-political zones.

Candidates already to be in the race for the presidential ticket of the all-important ruling APC are named to be Former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi, Former Abia State Governor and serving Senator Orji Kalu, Former Imo State Governor and serving Senator Rochas Okorocha and now serving Former Governor of Rivers State and serving Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.
