Service Compact (SERVICOM) has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure that citizens are given quality and timely services to guarantee optimal satisfaction.

Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, the National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer, SERVICOM gave the charge at the ongoing National Conference organised by Exam Ethics Marshals International (EEMI) on Wednesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that SERVICOM is a Federal Government agency charged with the responsibility of promoting effective and efficient service delivery in the public service.

Akajemeli, who was represented by the Public Awareness Manager, SERVICOM, Miss Patience Musa, said it was the responsibility of public servants to ensure the security of citizens.

“Public servants are responsible for the security of citizens, law and order; proper functioning of the private sector; efficient operations and regulation of airports among others.

“The level of development and the quality of life in the country are therefore directly tied to the level of performance of the public service.

“And the performance of the public service depends on the capacity and capability of the public service workforce,’’ she said.

Speaking on the topic: “Adopting and Deploying the Framework of SERVICOM in Administration of Public Service Examinations’’, Akajemeli said there was the need for public servants in the three tiers of governments to provide effective services to the citizens.

According to her, the onus lies on the SERVICOM unit of any government organisations to ensure the provision of basic services to which each citizen is entitled to, timely, fairly, honestly, effectively and transparently.
