Senate leader wins Yobe North APC ticket

The Senate Leader, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the 2019 for Yobe North senatorial zone election.

The returning officer of the election, Alhaji Umar Kareto, said while declaring the Senator Ahmed Lawan unopposed that he has polled 1,702 out of a total 1,865 accredited delegates votes in the zone. He said that 12 votes were invalid.

In his speech, the Senator thanked the delegates, stakeholders and party faithfuls for keeping faith in him

“The people of this zone have kept faith in me, they have shown trust, tolerance, resilience and support, l appreciate and assure you that l will continue to protect and promote your interests so that you are not shortchanged” he said.

He said that the zone had benefitted more under the APC led federal government then the 16 years of PDP misrule.

“I am urging the people to ensure that the zone and state, are delivered to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections”.

He said the zone had benefitted more in the tenure of the APC led federal government under President Buhari than the last 16 years of the PDP led administration.

Lawan also commended Yobe Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam for providing the state with purposeful leadership and dividends of democracy which had improved the lives of the people.
