SEEPCO responds to PENGASSAN concerns, reaffirms commitment to employee welfare, open dialogue

Sterling Oil Exploration Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) has taken the concerns raised by Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) very seriously and has acted promptly to address the issues, demonstrating a strong commitment to resolving the matter through open and constructive dialogue with the Union.

These were words of SEEPCO according to a press release by the company.

In the release from its Executive, SEEPCO emphasized its role as a responsible corporate citizen, adhering to federal laws and industry regulations.

“The company is dedicated to the welfare of its employees, host communities, and stakeholders, maintaining high standards in labor relations, environmental sustainability, and corporate governance,” it said.

Responding to some specific allegations from association, SEEPCO clarified that it fully complies with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), as well as the Industrial Act and other relevant laws of Nigeria.

It was pointed out that, “This commitment has positioned SEEPCO as one of the fastest-growing indigenous companies in the oil and gas sector. The company is focused on contributing to Nigeria’s economic development, creating local jobs, and enhancing energy security by investing in local content initiatives, promoting sports as part of employee development programs, and engaging in community development projects aimed at improving quality of life.

“SEEPCO firmly rejects any claims that misrepresent its commitment to fostering a fair and supportive workplace. The company has consistently worked with labor unions, including PENGASSAN, to maintain a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship.

“SEEPCO calls on PENGASSAN and all relevant stakeholders to engage in good faith through appropriate channels to address any concerns.”

However, the company concluded its statement by giving assurance of its continued commitment to fair play in world place as it “remains open to dialogue and will continue to operate with integrity, ensuring that all activities align with the highest ethical and professional standards.”
