The Department of State Security (DSS) has reportedly called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its ongoing strike.

This call was coming 24 hours after the National Industrial Court (NIC) ruled that ASUU should call off its strike and return to work but the union not only disagreed with the ruling but also has reportedly gone to appeal.

The Federal Government, however, while declaring a ‘no victor, no vanquished’ situation, said it will implement the court order and ask vice chancellors of the universities to reopen schools for academic activities to resume in earnest.

The Director of the Service in charge of Yobe, Mr Yunusa Abdulkadir, made his appeal in Damaturu at the Third Quarterly Conference of the State Directors of Security in the North-East Zone.
