A former Assistant Editor of Sun Newspapers, Alhaji Rasaq Bamidele, lost one of his sons, Abdul Wasii Kayode Adegboyega Bamidele in a ghastly accident on Friday, the Christmas day of December 25, 2020.

The sad even occurred when he was involved in a road crash near Ilorin, Kwara State, six days after attending a graduation ceremony of his brother at Agege Stadium in Lagos and only Thursday December 24, 2020 returned to base and called his father announcing his safe arrival.

The shocker came the following day when another call that entered his father’s handset turned out to be one that has brought yet-to-dry tears to the face of his two parents, Alhaji and Alhaja Bamidele when they were told they lost him.

The ostensibly sorrow soaked Alhaji Bamidele was also a former Editor with The Monitor Ibadan under the leadership of Alhaji Liad Tella as Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief and Alhaji Femi Abbas as Chairman Editorial Board.

He made the sad news known on his personal Facebook handle Saturday night.

His words: “Who wipes my tears as I just lost a darling son, a dependable Ally, a trusted boy and compassionate companion, Abdul Wasii Kayode Adegboyega Bamidele. Last Sunday, he was all over me at Agege Stadium Lagos where his cousin, Ibrahim Oluwafikayomi BAMIDELE was receiving his graduation certificate for his performance at Al-Amoni College of Arabic and Islamic studies.

“On Thursday, December 24, the bubbling guy announced his arrival at home, Igbaye to my surprise! But I got the shock of my life Friday, December 25 afternoon that my son had suddenly become my elder brother via the cold hand of death in form of a ghastly road crash near Ilorin! And since then, tears have been burrowing down my cheeks ending up and drenching my chest! Can the tears ever cease to flow?! Wasii Babankowa my Islamic singer son with velvet voice, bye for now till we meet to part no more in the Janatul Fridawus in Sha Allah!”

In the meantime, the AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadejia (Rtd)-led Advisory Board of The DEFENDER Newspaper, board and management of board Defender Media Limited have paid their condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Allah to console them while accepting and reposing the late Abdul Wasii into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
