At about 15:41 GMT Tuesday, the presidential jet flying President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from Abou Dhabi, touched ground as it arrived in St Petersburg.
The aim of the UAE strongman was to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin particularly on achieving peace and end to the war in Ukraine.

Ruptly footage shows a guard of honour and the Russian delegation greeting the UAE leader, as well as the Sheikh getting into his car and the motorcade drove out of the airport.
According to the UAE Foreign Ministry, the meeting with the Russian leader will address the conflict in Ukraine.
“The visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE president, to Russia tomorrow, is part of the UAE’s continuous endeavour to contribute to achieving security and stability in the region and the world… in addition to communicating with all parties concerned in the Ukraine crisis to help reach effective political solutions,” the department stated.
The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, affirmed the Emirates’ endeavour to contribute to strengthening the foundations of global peace and stability to reduce tensions and find diplomatic solutions to crises.
This came during the reception hosted in St Petersburg by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, in honour of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, where they reviewed a number of regional and international issues and developments of common concern during discussions.
Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the importance of continuing to make unremitting efforts to find political solutions to crises and tensions, stressing the need for dialogue between all parties.
Furthermore, the President underscored the UAE’s policy in support of peace and stability on the regional and international arenas, and called for the need to continue serious consultations to resolve the Ukraine crisis through dialogue, negotiation and diplomacy to reach a political settlement in order to achieve global peace and security.
