Russia-China cooperation has demonstrated stability amid the pandemic and the Ukrainian crisis, Russia’s ambassador to China, Andrey Denisov, said while speaking by video link at the 7th international conference Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era.

“The pandemic and the Ukrainian crisis turned out to be the harshest tests for the modern system of international relations and the global economy. Against this background, Russian-Chinese cooperation demonstrated stability. As they say in China, pure gold dos not fear the test of fire,” he said.

According to Denisov, in the struggle against COVID-19, the two countries mutually provided support and assistance, established cooperation, and made an important contribution to the global fight against the virus.

“The Chinese partners, as we can see from here, from the very beginning took a balanced attitude to the events in Ukraine, recognized the fairness of Russia’s demands for the implementation of indivisible security in Europe, and condemned NATO’s eastward expansion. [The Chinese partners] emphasize the idea that the Ukrainian crisis has a complex historical context. They point to the responsibility of the United States and its allies for escalating the conflict, beefing up Kiev’s military muscle with military hardware, and creating obstacles to negotiations,” Denisov said.

“At the same time, Beijing calls for the fastest conclusion of peace and expresses its readiness to provide assistance directly to the Ukrainian people – the civilian population of the country,” he said.
