The Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr. Edison Ogerenye Ehie, has formally informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the 25 vacant seats in the State House of Assembly.

According to confirmed reports, INEC has duly received the letter from the Assembly Speaker, indicating the existence of these 25 vacant seats in the State House of Assembly.

27 lawmakers loyal to Mr. Nyesom Wike, Bola Tinubu’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), dumped the State’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abuja’s All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday.

However, two lawmakers had since returned to the PDP making the Wike’s camp suffer an immediate loss of members in favour of the governor in power.

The notification, Our Reporter says, is as a result of the vacant seats created by defection of Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule and 24 others.
