RESCUE MISSION: Zamfara govt to spend over N6b on roads construction in Maradun LG

In its effort to transform the rural commumities, Zamfara State government is to spend over N6 billion for the construction of roads in Maradun Local Government.

The roads to be constructed are the Maradun-Magami-Faru and Maradun-Makera roads.

These, it said, would be done in order to ease transportation in the areas.

Other projects to be executed, as captured in the 2024 budget, include the rehabilitation of Government Secondary School, Gora Namaye, the upgrading of MaradunGeneral  Hospital, the construction of offices for mobile squadron, a Magistrate Court  and residential buildings among others.

The stateGovernorr, Dauda Lawal, disclosed these when he visited the local government recently, where he launched the distribution of fertiliser and other agricultural facilities to farmers of the area under theFADAMA ||| programme.

During the launching, Governor Dauda, who assured the farmers in the area of his government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector for its growth and development, requested the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity to increase their yields and contribute to the growth of agricultural sector and the state in general.

Speaking earlier, the Sole Administrator of the area, Alhaji Yahaya Giwa Maradun, showed his appreciation and that of the people of the area to the governor for solving, within six months of his tenure as the state governor, the perennial water problem they have been facing for decades.

In his remarks, the Emir of Maradun Sarkin Kaya, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Tambari, who described the governor as an embodiment of unity, peace and development, thanked him for what he has been doing to not only Maradun but the state at large.

Maradun is the headquarters of Maradun Local Government and home to former Governor Bello Matawalle, according to a press release signed by Nuhu Salihu Anka, the Director General
Media and Communication to Governor Dauda Lawal, and copy of which was handed to The DEFENDER in Gusau on Wednesday.
