“Peter Obi went to the Redemption Camp and he was applauded. Some weeks back, someone here was hurling insults on Pastor Adeboye because Tinubu visited the Redemption Camp. This is why you people should take it easy insulting anyone for political reasons,” Dr. Oluwafemi said.

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Dr. Peter Obi, on Friday August 12, 2022, attended the ongoing 70^th annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), at the Redemption City for the first time.

The entire church went agog with loud cheers after the anchor of programme at the time of his arrival announced saying, “We welcome to the redemption camp for the first time Mr. Peter Obi.”

Members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) rejoiced when the presence of the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, was announced.

Obi, who was making his first appearance at the Redemption Camp enjoyed a rousing ovation from the crowd, who were wowed by his presence.

The announcement disrupted the programme as it took a few minutes to put the over-joyous crowd under control.

According to a video currently trending on social media, Obi’s introduction at the church was greeted with loud cheers from participants of the event, which is tagged ‘Perfect Jubilee’.As the congregation cheered, the lady anchor (name unidentified) who announced his presence, however, said: “It’s Jesus we are celebrating.”

Moments later, when the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, mounted the podium, some of the crowd waited in anticipation for the man of God to comment on 2023 elections due to the presence of Obi, but he rather focused attention on his sermon.

Dr. Oluwafemi @thefemianthony, who went on the Twitter to react to the development, noted with mixed feeling that the same Redeemed Church worshippers that did not show enthusiasm over the visit of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, weeks before, were the same people nearly collapsing the space upon arrival of Peter Obi.

“Peter Obi went to the Redemption Camp and he was applauded. Some weeks back, someone here was hurling insults on Pastor Adeboye because Tinubu visited the Redemption Camp. This is why you people should take it easy insulting anyone for political reasons,” Dr. Oluwafemi said.

A keen study of both visits of Tinubu and Obi, many have said, shows that the core Christian community of Nigeria have made up their mind to vote for Peter Obi, the only candidate that is believed to be Christian and who will earn them Christian Presidency in 2022.

In the meantime, another respondent that spoke on the development at the Redemption Camp on the Tinubu and Obi’s separate visits asked: “But for what reason would core Christian community of Nigeria want to be ruled by Christian President at all cost and not going to ever tolerate a Muslim President like they have show attitude since President Muhammadu Buhari came to office on May 29, 2015?

“I mean, is there any special benefit that Buhari, as President, accrued to Muslims of this country since 2015? I can answer straightaway that ‘No’ because, under Buhari, who you consider to be Muslim President, those who have suffered and have been persecuted more, as it is seen in the anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim activities and antagonism of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), are the Muslims.

“The funniest thing, do you know? It is that even when Muslims had valid accusation of CAN as a Christian body of being responsible for the killing of their members in parts of the country with particular mention of the man that was shot dead by thugs believed were sponsored by CAN, neither the same Muslim President nor his Federal Government thought it fit to come to the rescue of his own people being allegedly killed and persecuted.

“Rather, the same people that should be accused of killing and persecuting Muslims have been shuttling between Nigeria and United States of America working with lobbyists and senators over there, who are helping them lie and demand that the country should be blacklisted as country of religious intolerance where Christians are killed for the fact of their religious identity.

“These are the same people that want Christian President. How can you be trusted with that? Not even with a supporter of terrorist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who not only do not not believe in Nigeria but, with show of violence, have called the country a Zoo.”

The DEFENDER’s investigations, however, revealed through the submissions of the respondent instances of predominantly Muslim countries in Africa that has shunned religious sentiment by leaving out their many choices of Muslim candidate and voting for a Christian as President and he mentioned the Republic of Senegal, where Mr. Macky Sall, born 11 December 1961, was elected as Senegalese President and has been allowed a peaceful reign since April 2012. He was re-elected President in the first round voting in February 2019.

Such a Christian politician, who is blessed by God as a Christian to be President of the predominantly Muslim country since the beginning of his second term tenure in February 2019, will mock the Christian leaders of Nigeria the way they politicise religion and religionise politics, we gathered with a table of leadership of Senegal since 1960 to date as follow:
