A post on Friday, lifted from the LinkedIn social media platform of Dr. Muiz Banire, stalwart of the of the ruling party in Lagos State, revealed the real reason for the APC vs APC fighting, saying it was no more than for self-interest of the governors and whatever goal they are fighting to achieve.

In the same post, Banire, Principal Partner at MABanire and Associates as well as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said the secret of the governors’ fight over the new naira redesign policy and for which they are insisting on continued circulation of all the old naira notes as legal tender is to enable them achieve their purpose of vote-buying.

“A lot of us might not understand why the Governors are insisting on the old notes being legal tender. Certainly it is not that they don’t know that they do not have the power to declare what is legal tender neither did they not know that (they)… lack the capacity to enforce any Supreme Court judgment.

“The secret is simply that they are out to deceive the unwary potential voters into accepting the already stocked old notes in their custody for the purpose of buying voters’ conscience.

“My counsel is that potential voters who must take money should either insist on the real legal tender as pronounced by the apex Bank or any other currency acceptable to them,” he advised electorate.

Benire also moved on to the end of the post to tell bare his mind on what the voters need to know regarding the upcoming elections.

“However, I admonish that your conscience is not worth buying but if you must collect the money which mostly is stolen from the treasury, insist on legal tender and still vote your conscience. This is part of our leadership campaign leadership series,” he concluded.
