The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared that Monday March 15, 2021 will be Sha’ban 1, 1442 AH.

This declaration was contained in a short message by Secretary Moon Sighting Committee of the sultanate Council and Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Malam Yahata Boyi.

Sha’ban is the eighth month of Islamic lunar calendar before Ramadan, which is the ninth.

By indication, the annual fasting of in the holy month of Ramadan, which is one of five pillars of Islam, commences in 30 days from now although subject to declaration of the all-important moonsighting by the Sultan.

Muslims have been thanking Allah for freeing them and their country this year considering the fact that preparation for the festivity-accompanied Ramadan moonsighting was at ground zero last year due to lockdown imposed on the country, as it happened globally, by Federal Government of Nigeria due to killer disease Coronavirus.
