The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has described vandalisation and carting away of railway tracks by some unscrupulous elements in some major cities and villages in the country as social, political and economic terrorism.

According to the group, this heinous crime is the new face of terrorism in the country, especially given the calibre of people now suspected to be behind the nefarious enterprise.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the group said the recent arrest of suspects by the Nasarawa State Police Command, following intelligence gathered, is worrisome.

“Among those arrested are police officers, an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Special Adviser on infrastructure to Nasarawa State Governor and a Chinese national.

“Despite concerted efforts by the Buhari administration to improve the living standard of Nigerians and boost economy through provision of modern railway infrastructure and other forms of socio-economic development, some unpatriotic Nigerians are bent on derailing the gains of the administration through vandalisation and outright stealing of government property.

“The fact that some of the arrested suspects were security operatives and high government officials charged with the responsibility to protect lives and property of Nigerians, should be a source of worry to all. This goes to show that not all those charged with the responsibility of protecting lives and property have Nigeria’s interest at heart.

“We salute the efficiency of the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian police and commend same diligence to other security agencies”.

BMO urged the public to continue to support the various security agencies in the country in their quest to rid the country of all criminal elements terrorising the people, in any form and manner.

“As it has been said several times, security is everybody’s business, so we call on Nigerians to be more vigilant and to report any suspicious movement to the appropriate authority for prompt action”.

The group enjoined Nigerians to empathise with the government and show avowed resistance to the unpatriotic people who are working hard to pull the President and his government down.

“We wish to emphasise that no amount of calculated distractions or ill-will would prevent President Buhari from fulfilling his promises of providing the needed infrastructures and welfare package to make life comfortable for the people of this country and boost the economy for growth and development”, the statement added.
