President Tinubu appoints Bayo Onanuga SA, as Kashim Imam becomes FERMA Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Governing Board and Management team of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for a renewable term of four years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007, according to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER.

Ngelale disclosed in a separate press release same day of Friday and dated October 13, 2023 that his principal had also appointed two new aides to function as his Special Adviser and Senior Special Assistant in charge of ministerial coordination and strategy.

The President’s appointment of Board of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has Engr. Imam Ibrahim Kashim Imam as Chairman, with Chukwuemeka Agbasi as Managing Director, while members of the Board included Yusuf Lawal Othoman (NARTO); Engr. Ibi Terna Manasseh (FMW); ACM Shehu Mohammed (FRSC); Babatunde Daramola-Oniru (Finance); Hon. Preye Oseke (South South); Hon. Oye Ojobe (South West); Dr. Kenneth Ugbala (South East); Sen. Timothy Adudu (North Central); Engr. Abubakar Bappa (North East) and Aminu Adamu Papa (North West).

President Tinubu expects the new appointees to achieve integrous and competent service delivery, given the central role that the institution will play in the sustainable health of growth-enabling infrastructure nationwide.

New aides

On the other hands, the President’s to have also approved the appointments of Mr. Bayo Onanuga as his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy and Ms Delu Bulus Yakubu as his Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

This development, according to the statement, is part of efforts to prioritize effective and efficient working synergy between the Presidency and Federal Ministries.

Their appointments were also informed by their prior working experience within the architecture of the Federal Ministries they will be coordinating with, in addition to duties that will be carried out at the President’s discretion.

The DEFENDER recalls that Onanuga was during the first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari the Director General of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
