President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, received the Vice Chancellor of Crescent University Abeokuta (CUAB), Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, who paid him a courtesy visit in Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Gbajabiamila paid President Buhari the visit just ahead of the ninth convocation of the Crescent University scheduled for Saturday October 14, 2017 at its main campus, Ayetoro Road, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
It was however not clear if the visit had any connection with the forthcoming convocation of the 12-year-old institution, as details of their closed door meeting during the visit were not made available to the press.
The Crescent University’s VC was about the first to be received by the President since he returned via London to Nigeria from the United States, where he had travelled to and actively participated in the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Crescent University Abeokuta, which prides itself as citadel of academic and moral excellence, was founded in 2005 by the formal Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Judge Bola Ajibola, will be graduating 469 at its ninth convocation come October 14.
A release by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mt. Idris Katib, stated that the convocation would also be used to confer LLB degree honours on the maiden set of the institution’s Bola Ajibola College of Law graduates who will be proceeding to the Nigeria Law School later in the year.
The release added that the occasion would witness the award of first degrees, master’s degree, diplomas, prizes and conferment of honorary degrees on eminent personalities namely Mohammed Ali, the Chief Executive Officer, Islam Channel, United Kingdom and Alhaji Mahmood Halilu Ahmed, Chairman, Bedmod Farms Nigeria Limited.
The convocation lecture scheduled for Friday 13th October 2017 and titled “Moral Conduct in Professional Life” will be delivered by Mallam Yusuf Ali,a Senior Advocate of Nigeria while the Chancellor, the Alaafin of 9th, His Imperial Majesty Obama Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi will chair the convocation.
