The Zamfara State Police Command has recovered two live rockets propelled grenades, 9 AK 47 riffles, 26 rounds of life ammunition and other dangerous weapons in an onslaught against criminals in the state.
This was disclosed by the Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Usman Belel at the command headquarters in Gusau on Monday while briefing journalists on the activities of Command since assumption of office in September, this year.
The Police Commissioner said the command in line with the commitment and determination of the Inspector General of Police to halt and rid the country of illegal and unlawful firearms from the possession of unauthorized persons recorded the recoveries.
“My management team and I have reviewed and renewed our crime fighting strategies so that we can meet up with the challenges of containing any security threat in the state”, he said.
Belel also paraded 13 suspects including one of the three rapist who raped a married woman in the presence of her husband were also arrested and will soon be charged to courts.
He said on the 7th November, at about 0100hrs, one Ado Shehu of Dungu area , via Yankara District, Faskari LGA of Katsina State, criminally conspired with Rabo Jumo and Haruna Jumo both at large, stormed into the house of Adamu Ibrahim of Madani Village, Wamzamai District in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara state and raped his wife.
“They threatened his young wife with AK47 rifle and sticks, wherein they had unlawful sexual intercourse with her one after the other”, he said.
Belel assures that all those at large and other bad elements in the state will be arrested and therefore called for support and cooperation of the public in the tasks of raiding the state of crimes.
Other items recovered from the suspects includes motorcycles, and over seven hundred thousand Naira.
