Police in Lagos arrests 2 robbery suspects, recovers stolen car

The operatives of Festac Divisional Headquarters of Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed tobbers, Nnonyelu Kelechukwu, male, and Okongi Godspower, male, during an operation carried out in the area.

The Command also recovered a stolen car during the operation, led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of the Division, and carried out around 9am on Thursday April 29, 2021.

The Spokesperson of the Command, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said some community leaders in Festac had informed the DPO that the suspects wanted to sell one unregistered Lexus 2004 SUV to one Anas at the rate of One Million Naira and they suspected that the vehicle must have been stolen.

The DPO and his team tracked down and arrested the suspects and the unregistered vehicle was recovered to the station.

The suspects have since confessed that they allegedly stole the vehicle at somewhere in Alaba-Rago Area of Lagos State.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has commended the efforts of the Division for arresting the suspected armed robbers and directed that they should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for discreet Investigation and possible arrest of other members of the syndicate.
