Police arraigns herbalist, one other over murder of UNIOSUN student

Osun State Police Command on Friday arraigned a 32-year-old herbalist,Jelili Raji, also known as Ifa and one Tiamiyu Kabiru before an Osogbo Magistrate Court III, for their alleged involvement in the circumstances surrounding the murder of a student of Osun State University, Miss Rofiat Adebisi Damilola.

Raji was arraigned on two count charges of conspiracy and murder while Kabiru was arraigned on a court charge of receiving unlawfully one Samsung DVD player, property of the deceased from one Elijah Oyebode.

The police prosecutor, Mereti Wilson told the court that Raji committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 324 and 319 (1) Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002 and that Kabiru committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, volume II, laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The counsel to Kabiru, Mr Ngwoke K E urged the court to grant him bail in the most liberal term and assured that his client has reliable sureties and that Kabiru would not jump bail if granted.

In her ruling, Magistrate Habibat Basiru remanded Raji in prison and granted Kabiru’s bail at N50,000 with two sureties.

The magistrate advised the prosecutor to get a legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

The judge transferred the case to Court IV where a sister case is pending.
