Police Command in Plateau State has arrested five persons suspected to be kidnappers in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Austin Agbonlahor who paraded the suspects before journalists in Jos on Monday, identified them as Abba Sa’eed, Kabiru and Abdullahi Kabiru abducted a six-year old boy named Aliyu Aminu at the Ungwan Rogo Area of Jos, who demanded the sum of twelve million Naira from his father before they could release him.
The other two suspects abducted a 56 year-old woman and her daughter in Wase Local Government Area of the state and took them into the bush.
The Commissioner said that they would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He further disclosed that his men also recovered 115 cows rustled by gunmen in Jos South LGA.
According to him, although the five armed men who rustled the cows fled when they noticed security personnel were closing in on them, the commissioner stated that the recovered cattle belonging to one Ibrahim Suleiman have since been handed over to him while efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, as various political parties prepare for their campaigns ahead of the 2019 elections, the command vowed that it would not tolerate any act capable of breaching public peace in the state.
The Command particularly warned politicians against engaging in hate speeches while trying to canvas for votes from the electorate.
“Politicians and all political parties in the state must play by the rules with assurance that adequate security will be provided at all campaign venues. As such, no hate speeches will be tolerated by the command,campaign should be issue based.
He added that no one should be used as a thug. I therefore call on all members of the public to be more security conscious and report suspicious movement around them to the police”
Stressing that the full wrath of the law will soon catch up with such individuals,the Commissioner called on the citizens to eschew violence before, during and after the forthcoming elections.
