PHOTO NEWS: Sultan of Sokoto lands, received by Jigawa Governor in Dutse Airport for Emir of Gumel’s 45th coronation anniversary prayers

Alhaji Sani II, the 16th Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, has been on the throne since his coronation in 1981 and has been involved in various local initiatives, such as advocating for security, promoting education, and supporting national census efforts.
Chairman National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, Sultan of Sokoto His Excellency Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, HFNIM, has arrived Jigawa State in North West Nigeria ahead of 45th coronation anniversary prayers of Emir of Gumel, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani II, CON.


Alhaji Sani II, the 16th Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, has been on the throne since his coronation in 1981 and has been involved in various local initiatives, such as advocating for security, promoting education, and supporting national census efforts.

The Sultan, who is equally the natural Chairman of Northern Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, was warmly received at the Dutse International Airport on Friday December 5, 2025 by Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Mallam Malam Umar Namadi, supported by Emir of Dutse, Jigawa State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sanusi CFR, and Emir of Gaya, Kano State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya.

They all prayed Allah to continue to grant the Sultan of Sokoto blessings of the leadership he is pleased with and strengthen him to continue to deliver the message of peace, unity and development that he preaches across religious and ethnic boundaries in Nigeria.

The DEFENDER reports that the Amir ul-Mu’mineen of Nigeria and Khalifatul Usmaniyyah of the Sokoto Caliphate was accompanied by two senior counselors of Sultanate Council Sokoto, His Royal Highness Alhaji Attahiru Aliyu Galadanci, Galadima Garin Sokoto, and His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Jabi Kilgori, Ph.D, AMNIM., Sa’i Kilgori, Sokoto State.
