The Council of Arewa Chiefs has called on Lagos State Government to take decisive action against the state’s Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Ahmed Kabiru, for plotting to truncate the existing peace between Arewa Community and the people of the state.

This was contained in a media statement signed by Arewa Council’s Spokesman, Alhaji Isa Jimeta, and made available to newsmen including The DEFENDER on Saturday.

According to the statement, the Council said available intelligence had proved that the Commissioner for Water Resources had set aside several millions of Naira for a media campaign designed to truncate the recent endorsement of the Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu after ratification by the Office of Governor Sanwo-olu.

The Council of monarchs also called on security agents in Lagos State to place the Water Resources Commissioner under surveillance “just in order to preserve the peace being enjoyed by the Arewa Community due to the efforts of the State government and the APC Presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

It also expressed worry over “the Water Resources Commissioner working underground to create bad blood between Arewa Community and their neighbors by engineering crisis over the Sarkin Hausawa title, to achieve personal goal of truncating Lagos peace.

“We urge the Water Resources Commissioner to avoid this dangerous use of influence to undermine prominent Nigerians like the governor of a State in which he is serving and the APC Presidential flag bearer, because the two are not his mates” said the monarchs.

They then stated: “Peace has been attained by the special grace of God, in the decades of relationship between Arewa Community and their neighbors and we have to appreciate the State Governor for doing the needful and Asiwaju for being highly cooperative as father and guardian of the Arewa Community”.

The Council said the kingmakers fully recognised by the law as the guardians of the entire traditional rulers of the Arewa Community in Lagos include:

(1) HRH Alhaji Aminu Idris Yaro Dogara, Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos and Chairman Arewa Council of Chiefs Lagos

(2) HRH Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, Sarkin Fulani of Lagos, Chairman Council of Fulani Chiefs South-West and Vice Chairman Arewa Council of Chiefs Lagos

(3) HRH Alhaji Mai Mele Abatcha, Mai-Kanuribe of Lagos and Chairman Kanuri Council of Chiefs Lagos State

(4) HRH Sanni Yakubu Ejima, Onu Igala of Lagos (Ogah Attah Igala), Chairman Kogi Traditional Rulers Council, Lagos State and

(5) Alhaji Jibrin Magaji, Wakilin Nupe Lagos.

The Council, in the statement, hailed the traditional rulers for the brilliant work on the laws guiding the monarchy in Arewa Community and urged them not to be distracted by “the dangerous agenda of a Judas inside Governor Sanwo-Olu’s government”.
