A House of Representatives Aspirant in Ibarapa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Lateef Olawumi, has reacted to the death on Monday 1 November 2021 of a committed, patriotic journalism icon, Malam Marufh Bello, who died in a ghastly auto crash within the Ibadan, the state capital.

Olawumi, in an emotion-laden condolences message sent to The DEFENDER earlier and another posted on his verified Facebook timeline Thursday night, described Marufh, a former senior correspondent with the Nigerian Tribune and, until he established his own oneline newspaper, City Hill News on 1 November 2020, contributor to The DEFENDER, as a sun that set in the midnight.

On his Facebook, specifically, he said, “Marufh Bello, certain things are hard to believe. Certainly, death is inevitable. May Allah grant you aljanna firdaus. You had ideas that could transform the land. But many like you wouldn’t not be appreciated until when they’re no more. Adieu my dear brother,” Lateef Olawumi mourned.
