As the Fifth Coronation Anniversary events of His Royal Majesty Oba Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, Osolo of Isolo Kingdom, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State hits day four on Friday, new health centre and market were inaugurated as part of activities of the event.

Accompanied by his chiefs including High Chief Ibukun Aladetoyinbo, the Elemo of Isolo, Osolo Adewole was well received by hundreds of Imeruku community residents as he visited to inaugurate Imeruku Community Market and Imeruku Health Centre on the said day.

The Osolo of Isolo, Akure South Local Government, Ondo State, on arrival at Imeruku community under the kingdom on Friday June 9, 2023.

Welcoming the monarch, Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi who speaks on behalf of the 16 streets’ chairmen in Imeruku community, appreciated His Majesty for his efforts in moving Isolo town forward.

The DEFENDER reports that Mr Oluwatuyi commended the inauguration of the community health centre and market, while the anchor man of the community, Mr Ifedayo Omotayo a.k.a Mania, enumerated the self help achievements of the community, including the provision of electricity, grading of roads and provision of security based on their capacity.

Mania highlighted some of the challenges facing the community such as inaccessibility to health facilities, security and some social related issues among leaders of the 16-street community.

Responding, Oba Edward Adewole commended of his people of Imekuru towards achieving some of their basic needs.

The Osolo further reiterated his commitment to ensuring and facilitating easy living system to his subjects, people of Imeruku inclusive.

The monarch noted the highlighted challenges and assured the people that their requests would be channeled to government on health facilities, establishment of police station for effective security and good road network.

Oba Adewole made some corrections to the signposts in the community, saying that the inscriptions should read “Isolo, Akure South” and “not Isolo, Akure” for easy identification for strangers.

He also directed the people to always revert to his palace in Isolo on any matter that is beyond the community leaders as, according to him, any matter taken to a palace outside Isolo Kingdoms shall attract fine.

Among the highlights of the event wasbthe donation of 200 blocks by the king during the inauguration of the health centre.

The market he inaugurated has been named the Imeruku Obirigba Mini Market, where the Oba opened activities by making the first purchase, saying the market will improve economic activities of the community and ease the stress people hitherto passed through by having to go a long distance for buying and selling.

Point of note was also the emphasis laid by the king that he is not in the palace for merry making but to practically and effectively work along with his chiefs towards improvement of living condition of his people of Isolo town and communities under the kingdom.

Answering some of the questions raised, Osolo Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole said some streets had been renamed for proper addressing and substantiation of Isolo as a town and not a street.

The ostensibly pragmatic Ondo State autonompus community king said “in no distant time, the renamed streets shall be inaugurated.”

The Imeruku community people, through their Central Chairman Elder Fapounda, appreciated the traditional ruler for visiting their area to give them sense of belonging, describing it as “the first in history” by any Osolo of Isolo.

The event also witnessed presentation of gift by the people to the king and group photographs marking the close of the event, according to Special Assistant to the Osolo on Media and Administration, Comrade Ayomide Michael.

Among those on the entourage of the Osolo during the Imeruku tour were High Chief Aladetoyinbo, the Elemo of Isolo Among other chiefs, and other subjects including former world’s fastest runner, Seun Ogunkoya.
