Former Acting National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Victor Giadom, has dismissed the claims going the rounds on social media by members of the Tinubu camp saying he was disgraced by President Muhammadu Buhari by not appointing him as Caretaker Committee Chairman, at Thursday’s National Executive Council (NEC) emergency meeting of the party.

Giadom, who was installed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court as upheld by the Court of Appeal in Abuja to take over from suspended Adams Oshiomhole in acting capacity as National Chairman of APC, expressed support for the decisions of the NEC.

Recall that the governing party dissolved its National Working Committee on Thursday and in the after-event, pro-Oshiomhole posts had been flying around in mainly social media with some of them yelling and jesting, “May we not summon a meeting that will remove us”.

It was their belief that President Buhari saw the former ANC as problem and used the NEC to remove him. Many of the Buhari camp members have, however, cautioned one another not to retaliate the those jesters in their own concocted language as one of them said, “We should behave honourably because we and them don’t have the same character.”

Another one said, “It is not the character of the President to relate hypocritically with any of his loyalists, even those not loyal to him. They claim Gbajabiamila and the President signaled to each other when deciding to announce Governor Buni as caretaker chairman.

“This is another insult from Tinubu camp to President Buhari that their leader watches them do. And they say all this to make their leader still relevant. I can’t speak more than this,” he said.

But, in his candid reaction to the development, Giadom said he had promised to stand by the NEC’s decisions.

He urged all warring members of the party to sheathe their swords, as advised by the President Muhammadu Buhari.

On his take he said, “I had earlier said that the collective decision of the entire NEC will prevail” in the meeting and that “I also promised to stand by any decision decided.”

He said: “President Buhari, in his remarks recommended the immediate discontinuation of all pending litigations involving the party and its members; ratifying the primary election conducted in Edo State; dissolving the current National Working Committee, and appointing caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning committee for the party.

“President Buhari informed NEC members that in order to return to the “winning ways’’, the APC must maintain cohesion by closing its ranks.

“The NEC meeting adopted all the recommendations by President Buhari, and appointed the Governor of Yobe State, Mallam Mai Buni, as Caretaker National Chairman, while Senator John Akpanudoede was designated Caretaker National Secretary,” Giadom cleared the doubts of those who are making the NEC decisions look like a plot between President Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu against him.
