The Oba of Benin, Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, says that President Bola Tinubu’s government was God-ordained, urging Nigerians to live in unity irrespective of differences.

He spoke on Sunday when he visited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina.

“God has ordained that Tinubu would become President of Nigeria. We are all one. I am for peace and tranquility,” the foremost custodian of the Benin Kingdom, clad in his white and red flowing regalia, said.

“We must live together as one. Nigeria is big. We must iron out our differences and learn to live together as one, big family.”

The revered monarch, who came with his royal entourage, congratulated Sanwo-Olu for his re-election, lauding him for the developmental strides in Nigeria’s commercial centre.

But he is urging the governor to do more in his second four years in office.

During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu thanked the Oba of Benin for his fatherly role and wishes for President Bola Tinubu’s government.

The monarch is one of the most revered in Nigeria.

“On behalf of Mr. President, we want to thank you for your fatherly role; for your prayers and best wishes to the government and I am sure he will not disappoint you,” he told the respected monarch, who was on his first visit to Lagos since his coronation.

“He will do everything possible to ensure that he delivers the real dividends of democracy that will help our country to reduce the poverty in the land, give us a new set of hope and redefine social economic development.”
