Obasanjo, Oloyede to headline Kola Daisi University’s 10th Anniversary, Convocation

Obasanjo is scheduled to deliver the convocation lecture on Tuesday, November 3, while Oloyede will deliver the commencement address as part of activities marking the institution’s first decade.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the immediate past Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, are expected to headline activities marking the 10th anniversary of Kola Daisi University, Ibadan, Oyo State, alongside its sixth convocation ceremony.
The university said the celebrations would hold from October 26 to November 5, 2026, featuring a convocation lecture, Founder’s Day, alumni gathering, community service, research exhibition, thanksgiving service and anniversary dinner.
Obasanjo is scheduled to deliver the convocation lecture on Tuesday, November 3, while Oloyede will deliver the commencement address as part of activities marking the institution’s first decade.
The celebrations will culminate in the award of degrees to graduating students at the sixth convocation ceremony on Thursday, November 5, at the Sherifat Agbeke Hall on the university’s campus in Ibadan.
In a statement announcing the programme, the university said the anniversary offered an opportunity to reflect on its growth, celebrate its achievements and renew its commitment to academic excellence, leadership development and national advancement.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji, who extended the invitation on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council and Senate, urged education stakeholders, alumni, parents, corporate organisations and members of the public to participate in the celebrations.
The programme will begin on Monday, October 26, with inter-faculty sporting competitions and male inter-hall sports at the university’s Sports Arena. Female inter-hall competitions and additional faculty contests will follow on Tuesday, October 27.
Alumni Night is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium to enable former students to reconnect with the institution and strengthen relationships that could support its continued development.
The university will take its activities beyond the campus on Thursday, October 29, with a community service exercise at Alata Market and Salako Village.
On Friday, October 30, the institution will organise a tree-planting exercise on campus, followed by a special Jumu’ah service at the campus praying ground.
A special thanksgiving service will hold on Sunday, November 1, at the Sherifat Agbeke Hall.
Academic activities will take centre stage on Monday, November 2, with a press conference by the Vice-Chancellor and a research exhibition showcasing the university’s academic work and research initiatives.
Tuesday, November 3, will feature Founder’s Day, Obasanjo’s convocation lecture and the collection of academic gowns by graduating students. An entertainment night is also scheduled for the day.
The anniversary programme will continue on Wednesday, November 4, with a dinner bringing together members of the university community and other stakeholders to celebrate its 10-year journey.
The sixth convocation ceremony will take place the following day, marking the formal recognition of graduating students’ academic achievements and their transition to professional and other responsibilities.
According to the university, the programme is designed to combine academic celebrations with community engagement, environmental responsibility, research promotion and stronger alumni relations.
Morenikeji reiterated the institution’s invitation to the public to join the celebrations, describing the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the university’s development and aspirations for the future.
