Ahead of the November 18 Anambra governorship election, the South East zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has appointed a former governor of old Anambra State, Dr Jim Nwobodo, as the chairman of the planning and strategy committee.

The party’s National Vice Chairman (South East), Dr Emma Eneukwu, who made the disclosure to newsmen after a meeting of the zone at the country home of the minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige, said Dr Orji Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, was to serve as vice chairman.

He said the committee was to monitor and report to the zone, the political environment in Anambra as well as evaluate the party’s aspirants in order to advise the zone on how best to achieve crisis free primaries.

“The committee is also expected to advise the zone on best ways and means of raising resources for the election,” he added.

Assuring of the party’s victory at the poll, Eneukwu said the primaries would follow due process as enshrined in the party’s constitution and elections modalities, urging aspirants to play by the rules.

Other members of the committee, according to the vice chairman, were Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume, Sen. Nkechi Wogu, Chief Maduba Cosmas, Chief G.N. Gbazueagu and Sen. Emma Agboti, who is to serve as secretary.
