NNPP signals opposition alignment ahead of next general election

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has declared that it is part of a broader opposition alignment aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.

In an official statement, the party said the emerging coalition reflects a “historic realignment of purpose,” bringing opposition forces together under a shared commitment to address Nigeria’s economic challenges and governance concerns.

According to the NNPP, the alignment represents a unified movement of Nigerians seeking change from the current political and economic conditions. The party expressed confidence that the coalition holds the electoral strength needed to challenge and defeat the APC at the polls.

The statement also raised concerns about what it described as “systemic hurdles” that could undermine the democratic process. It alleged that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not provide a level playing field for opposition parties in the forthcoming elections.

Despite these concerns, the NNPP emphasized its readiness for the contest, insisting that Nigerians would demand a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. The party further stated its intention to safeguard the integrity of the ballot and ensure that voters’ choices are respected.

The development comes amid increasing political activity and early positioning by parties ahead of Nigeria’s next general election cycle, with opposition groups exploring alliances to strengthen their chances against the ruling party.
