Nigeria’s coronavirus cases rise to 407 as deaths hit 12, recoveries 128

*Kano, NCDC post conflicting figures of confirmed cases

The Coronavirus cases in Nigeria has recorded yet its expected rise as Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) say data now stands at 407 with 12 deaths and 128 recoveries so far.

The update posted Wednesday night on the NCDC’s Twitter @NCDC handle said that Kano State has 12 new cases jumping the cases in the Nigeria’s second economic nerve centre to 18.  But the Kano State Ministry of Health posted on its Twitter @KNSMOH minutes early Thursday morning that the state has 21 confirmed cases.

In the meantime, the NCDC said: “Thirty-four new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 18 Lagos, 12 in Kano, 2 in Katsina, 1 in Delta, 1 in Niger.

“As at 11:20 pm 15th April there are 407 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.  128 have been discharged with 12 deaths,” it said.

For the breakdown the Centre said: “As at 11:20 pm 15th April, number of states with confirmed cases of #COVID19: 19 + FCT. Lagos – 232, FCT – 58, Osun – 20, Kano – 16, Edo – 15, Oyo – 11, Ogun – 9, Katsina – 7, Bauchi – 6, Kaduna – 6, Akwa Ibom – 6, Kwara – 4, Delta – 4, Ondo – 3, Enugu – 2, Ekiti – 2, Rivers – 2, Niger – 2, Benue – 1 and Anambra – 1.

Kano posts 21 cases as at against NCDC’s 16 in state.
