On his day-two in office as President of Africa’s most populous country, Nigerian Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu Wednesday held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Special Envoy, led by Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Peng Qinghua, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
The team, which arrived the Villa at about 3:30pm, had earlier represented the People’s Republic of China at the Presidential inauguration ceremony on Monday.
Though details of discussions at the meeting were not disclosed to the media, it was believed that it would centre around strengthening relations between Nigeria and China under the Tinubu administration.
The delegation included the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, and his deputy.
It would be recalled that the President had on Monday evening, after the inauguration ceremony, held similar meetings with Envoys and Heads of Missions of some countries, including those of the United Kingdom, United States, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Israel, Cape Verde, Somalia and Nicaragua.
