Nigerian Army 181 Battalion holds 2022 WASA in Delta

The Nigeria Army 181 Amphibious Battalion Agbor, on Saturday December 17, 2022, held the maiden edition of its West African Social Activities (WASA) with several members of Delta State communities and beyond in attendance.

It was a display of cultural heritage and traditions from across the country when the cultural event took place in the Agbor Barracks of the Battalion, under the Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Nafuta Abubakar.

Several traditional troupes representing various ethnic groups in the country were on display to entertain officers and men of the Battalion as well as their families and friends under the canopies of various Companies namely; Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Admin and Support.

Commanding Officers from both 3 Battalion Warri and 90 Battalion Koko were on ground to support the event.

The WASA activity, which is an age-long tradition in the Nigeria Army, also afforded the personnel to wine and dine with their families and friends.

The Brigade Commander, 63 Brigade Asaba, Brigadier General MLD Saraso, who was special guest of honour at the event, commended the effort of the military so far in curbing insecurity, adding that there was still room for improvement.

He urged the officers and soldiers to redouble their effort in view of the security challenges the Army is grappling with across the country.

The event, which featured sporting activities such as tug-of-war, had in attendance the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Dr Benjamin Ikechukwu (Keagborekuzi l) among other traditional rulers and sister security agencies including the Nigerian Police Force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Award winning comedian, MC Ashamale, entertained guests at the event, which highlights included presentation of award to soldiers, who distinguished themselves in their course of duty.
