Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s convoy crashed along the Airport Road Abuja Wednesday evening, The DEFENDER can authoritatively report.

Although Jonathan, who just arrived from his country home state of Bayelsa and drove after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to his residence ahead a very important meeting in the nation’s capital, was said to be “fine and okay”, two persons on his entourage were not as lucky as they died.

Our source said the former Nigerian leader was in Bayelsa as morning of the day, although another source said he had barely returned from an international assignment when the sad event occurred.

Confirming the accident to The DEFENDER via an electronic conversation Wednesday night, the Corps Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Headquarters, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the road accident but clarified that the former President was not touched by it although he was part of the convoy.

The FRSC’s Spokesman said: “It was his convoy and not him. Two people died and two injured.”

ACM Kazeem added that, “He was, however, part of the convoy coming from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.”
