New dawn as kingmakers elect Obalufon of Sepeteri 12 years after

The DEFENDER global online newspaper can now authoritatively report that a new traditional ruler has emerged for Sepeteri, an exceptionally well cultured people of Oke Ogun, in Oyo State, South West Nigeria.

The kingmakers of Sepeteri finally elected the new candidate to fill the vacant stool of the Obalufon of Sepeteri, some 12 years after the passing of late Oba Kareem Oyesiji Alatise , who joined his ancestors on 25th April, 2013.
The decision was reached on Tuesday during an election meeting held at in Ago-Amodu, the headquarters of Saki East Local Government Area of the state.

In the meantime, name of the chosen candidate has been forwarded to the Oyo State government, through the local government and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, for necessary action.
One of the kingmakers, who preferred anonymity, said, “We have chosen a new Obalufon of Sepeteri, and his name has been sent to the Oyo State government. We now await a response from the state government.”
Sepeteri, the biggest town in the Saki East Local Government Area, Oyo State, Nigeria, is an ancient town in Oke Ogun zone that is the Oyo North Senatorial District of the state.
People of Sepeteri are believed to have migrated from a town called Ifon, which is located in Osun State, and also has a relationship with Dahomey present day Republic of Benin.
Sepeteri town can be found in-between Igboho, Ago-Amodu and Oje Owode on the way to Shaki, Ago Are and Iseyin in the zone.
Title of King enthroned in the ancient community is called the Obalufon of Sepeteri, who is chosen from any of the ruling houses namely; the Daodu Ruling House, the Balogun Ruling House and the Ogboro Ruling House.
The town is homogeneous comprising mainly people belonging to the Yoruba ethnic group, who speak the Yoruba Language, although minority groups from other parts of Nigeria and Africa peacefully co-exist with natives of the township. Like all other Yorubas, they claim descent from Oduduwa.
Sepeteri, economically, is a town that is well endowed with mineral resources due to mineral availability, such as tantalite, columbite, cassiterite, kaolin, and granite.
