The Advisory Board of The DEFENDER Newspaper, under its President, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadeija (Rtd), has expressed its heartfelt congratulations to Lauretta Ifeanyi Onochie, on her appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman of the interventionist organisation, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and her confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic.

The seven-man Advisory Board of Nigeria’s only multi-lingual newspaper also congratulated the other 12 members of the NDDC Board while wishing them and their chairman a successful tenure.

The Board thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for considering a quality process put in place in the major interest of the long suffering people of Niger Delta, that their plights may become history.

“As Advisory Board of a doing well newspaper in Nigeria, currently more actively online, we will contribute our part by giving the media organisation well informed and quality advice for the advancement of the Lauretta Onochie-led NDDC Board, for the good of the oil-rich region and peace and security of Nigeria as a whole,” the Advisory Board President, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadeija (Rtd), said.

It will be recalled that the 2002-established Advisory Board of The DEFENDER Newspaper refilled with four new members, recently, following the deaths of four eminent Nigerians who had been its permanent members since inception namely; Late Papa Babatunde Jose, Late Dr. Lateef Adegbite, Late Alhaji Kola Animasaun and Late Dr. AbdulWahab Adegbenro, former Ondo State Commissioner for Health, who were replaced with Mallam Yakubu Ibn Muhammad, immediate past Director General, NTA, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN), erudite lawyer, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), former Minister of Communications, Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, human resources expert, joining AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadeija (Rtd), President, AIG Mohammed Mustafa (Rtd), and Prince Bashir Adefaka, CEO/Editor-in-Chief, on the board.
