Some Nigerians who took to social media to ventilate their opinions over the development agreed, considering the much reported good relationship which Senate President Bukola Saraki enjoyed with the DG SSS, Lawal Daura, that it was possible that the siege was ploy by Saraki to frustrate the effort of the Presidency and APC lawmakers’ efforts to make him reconvene in the national interest as against his own personal interest for which he shutdown the Assembly complex, which a PDP senator admitted was done to re-strategise against his removal following the harvest of defections the Senate President orchestrated against the APC recently.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described issues that cropped up at the National Assembly on Tuesday as a legislative matter that has no connection either with it as a party or its government.

In a statement by the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the ruling Party, Mr. Yekini Nabena, the APC said it was however monitoring the situation like every other Nigerian and stakeholder but, against insinuation in certain quarters, that “there is absolutely no basis for all the false allegations and attempt to blame the APC National Chairman for the development there.  It is strictly a legislative matter.”

“Our attention has been drawn to mischievous attempts in some partisan quarters to link Tuesday’s developments in the National Assembly to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

“While the Party is monitoring the developments in the National Assembly like every other concerned Nigerian and stakeholder, there is absolutely no basis for all the false allegations and attempt to blame the APC National Chairman for the development there. It is strictly a legislative matter.

Former aide on social media to President Goodluck Jonathan-led PDP Federal Government, Pastor Reno Omokri, had Tuesday morning posted on his twitter handle that he was told by a PDP senator how APC chairman Oshiomhole was shouting on APC Senators to sign impeachment of Senate President Bukola Saraki.

He said, ““@renoomokri The Deputy Chairman of the @NGRSenate Information Committee just informed me that Adams Oshiomhole is literally shouting at @OfficialAPCNg Senators and threatening them to sign impeachment papers against @bukolasaraki.”

Omokri, now generally described as a spelt bullet, however did not remember that Nigerians had earlier been told by APC lawmakers they needed no impeachment to remove Saraki when the time to do so was ripe.

In the meantime, a call by some respondents has therefore gone to the nation’s authorities to arrest Pastor Reno Omokri and whoever is connected with the fake news as the tweet he posted part of which was responsible for the misconception about the NASS development is said to be capable of threatening democracy.
