The Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), members of the Board and staff of the Commission have joined millions of loyalists in Nigeria and beyond in celebrating His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on his 15th year on the throne as 20th Sultan of Sokoto and Supreme Leader of Muslims in Nigeria.

The felicitation of the nation’s Hajj rites administration agency was contained in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Hajia Fatima Sanda Usara, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Saturday.

The Sultan took over the leadership of Sultanate on 2 November 2006 following the death by plane crash of his elder brother and 19th Sultan, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido.

In a congratulatory letter signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Zikrulllah Kunle Hassan dated 1 November 2021, on behalf of the 4th Board, NAHCON identified with the contributions of the Sultan in uniting the Muslim Ummah of Nigeria.

Of immense significance to NAHCON, the statement said, is the readily available fatherly advice, guidance, support, and active participation of His Eminence in Hajj management in Nigeria.

This concern for Hajj matters in the country has had “great significance towards improving the Hajj exercise in Nigeria”, the Chairman declared.

Alhaji Zikrullah prayed that the Almighty will increase the wisdom of the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, and also grant him good health and long-life to be able to contribute more to the growth of Nigerian Muslims and the world in general.

It would be recalled that on the 24 th February 2020 the supreme leader paid a historic courtesy visit to the NAHCON headquarters in Abuja where he recounted the rigors they went through in actualizing the founding of NAHCON.

He had commended the solid foundation upon which the Commission had been laid and expressed confidence that this board would do more.
