London-based security think-tank confers special honours on Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff
The Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has been conferred with two special awards by a security think-tank based in London, United Kingdom.
This came as the Army Chief delivered a lecture entitled, “Nigeria Unique Counter Insurgency – A Working Counter-Terrorism Model For Replication in Africa”, at the first Global Anti-terrorism and Counter-terrorism Conference and Workshop at the University Square, Stratford, London in the Queen’s country, on Monday.
A statement obtained by The DEFENDER among other media quoted the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, saying General Buratai delivered the lecture “today the 17th of June 2019,” and added that the he “has been given two awards by the organizers of the Conference – the Anti-terrorism Accreditation Board (ATAB) and Global Risk International United Kingdom.”
He daid: “The first award is – The Pave The Way Award for exceptional bravery and peace building in Nigeria and the Lake Chad region under Multinational Joint Task Force which are focal points of DAESH/ISIS.
“The second award is – The Certified Master of Anti-terrorism Specialist Award. According to the organizers “Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai is the first African to get this award”.
“The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs of the Nigerian Army, Major General US Mohammed represented the Chief of Army Staff and received the awards on his behalf,” Sagir Musa explained.
