The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Friday 4 March, 2022 as the first day of Sha’ban, 1443AH.

The declaration by the Sarikin Musulumi of Nigeria was conveyed via a Sultanate Council Sokoto’s short message by Malam Yahaya Muhammad Boyi, Sarkin Malaman Sokoto and Secretary, Moon Sighting Committee.

Boyi said the announcement was necessitated by positive moon sighting reports received from parts of the country.

“Due to positive sighting report of the crescent of SHA’ABAAN from many locations in Nigeria today Thursday 29Rajab 1443H (3rd March, 2022).

“The Sultanate Council Sokoto has declared Friday 4th March, 2022 as the first day of Sha’abaan 1443AH,” he said.
