The Accord Party House of Assembly Candidate for the coming Lagos State House of Assembly election, Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem, has against raised the alarm over what he described as an ongoing plan by Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, to rig the will of the people out of the way during the election in Agege Constituency I.

Abdulkareem, who is a former Chairman of Agege Local Government in Lagos State, had recently raised similar alarm accusing the Speaker of plotting to cause violence to cause confusion so that eligible voters would not have the peace of the mind to elect the candidate of their conscience in the constituency.

He said Obasa, who has been in the Lagos Assembly since 1999, is also said to have put a plan place to cook up an offence to implicate and get him arrested.

Confirming the fears to The DEFENDER Wednesday afternoon, the Agege Constituency I Accord Party’s candidate called on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, to help focus special attention on Agege Constituency I elections like he is getting his operatives ready for all areas of the state so that there will be no chance for thugs or influence security agents to do cause crisis during the coming polls.

Abdulkareem said one of the desperate things Obasa, who is candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), has just started is to sink one borehole at Abule Egbira in the area following his allegation against him of having in the last 16 years to sing a single borehole anywhere in the constituency he represents.

His words: “You know I told you that Mudashiru Obasa had never sunk a single borehole in his Agege Constituency I in the last 16 years.  He is sinking one now at Ago Egbira, which is a popular place at Mangoro side in Agege, strategically.  He started it today (Wednesday January 2, 2019).

“Apart from that, he is so desperate now like the story The DEFENDER did on our allegation of his desperation the other time.  All what they are planning to do is a kind of cook up something to implicate myself so that he will get me arrested.

“That is what they are planning now.  It is either they do that or they plan to rig on the day of election thereby causing violence in the area,” he complained.

Another member of the Accord Party, who was a ward executive member of APC in the area before he defected, Mr. Monsur Taiwo, also confirmed the fear of the Obasa’s plots in the Abdulkareem camp.

Mr. Taiwo told The DEFENDER in telephone interview Wednesday that “the Speaker, because of his influence as number three most powerful man in Lagos State, has ordered his APC supporters to paste his own posters on the Accord Party’s candidate posters in order to cover it from being seen by electorate in the area”.

Our effort to get the side of the Speaker was yet successful as at the time of filing report as calls made to the mobile phone of his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Alhaji Musibau Rasak, were not returned.
