Lagos Central Mosque presents new Baba Adinni to public
The Lagos Central Mosque has introduced the newly elected Baba Adinni of Lagos, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy, to the general public.
The presentation was done Friday last week before the commencement of the Juma’at service. It was witnessed by the executive members of the Lagos Central Mosque, the missioners, ratibis and some religious, traditional and political leaders.
Shortly after stepping into the mosque in his full regalia, the Baba Adinni of Lagos thanked the regular Jam’ah and guests.
He prayed Allah to grant the late Baba Adinni, Sheikh AbdulHafeez Abou, Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Alhaji Alabi-Macfoy urged Nigerians to continue to beseech Allah to ease the affairs of the country, saying that succour comes from Him alone.
He called on the citizens to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administrations with prayers.
“When something has spoiled, you cannot use magic wand to correct it; you have to go in stages. Without suffering, you cannot achieve success,” he said.
He urged the Jam’ah to keep praying and have fear of God.
“If you fear God and you are consistent in your prayer, you will see signs that your prayers are accepted,” he said.
The Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, thereafter, mounted the minbar for Juma’at sermon.
Sheikh Abou-Nolla also implored the congregation to always fear Allah.
Alhaji Alabi-Macfoy was joined by his wife, Alhaja Awawu and children for a photograph session.
Other guests took turns to take pictures with the 14th Baba Adinni of Lagos.
Congratulating the Baba Adinni after Juma’at prayer, the President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, said Alhaji Alabi-Macfoy’s appointment was ordained.
Alhaji Oladejo said: “He (Alhaji Alabi-Macfoy) has gone through tutelage, because all along, he has been deputy to the late Baba Adinni and he knows everything about the mosque management.
“He is well loved by everybody. So, we just pray that God will give him long life, guide and protect him, so that he can run this mosque very well.”
He called on Lagosians to rally round him and give him the necessary support.
MUSWEN Deputy President, who doubles as an executive member of the Lagos Central Mosque, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, said the Jam’ah elected him and he is competent to hold the office.
“We have faith in him, he is qualified for the position, he has worked with three different Baba Adinnis and he has gathered enough wealth of experience to drive the affairs of the Jam’ah,” Alhaji Ebiti said.
He expressed optimism that Alabi-Macfoy’s tenure will turn round the mosque’s fortune.
The Iya Sunnah of Lagos, Alhaja Muinat Shopeyin-Akande, described the new Baba Adinni as a pleasant person.
“I wish him long life life. I urge him to be patient and embrace the qualities of the late Baba Adinni,” she said.
