Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is father of Lagos APC has been been called upon to call the Lagos Speaker, Obasa, to order as electorate in Agege Constituency 01 are saying they will not allow his thugs to catch them unaware like they did during the presidential and national assembly elections in the area.

Agege Constituency 01 Candidate of Accord Party (AP) in Saturday 9 March 2019 House of Assembly election in Lagos State, Hon. Jubreel Abdulkareem, has denied the rumour going the round that he stepped down for Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashir Obasa.

Jubreel, in a phone conversation received in Abuja by The DEFENDER exactly 12.03 am (midnight of Wednesday), said it was true that Obasa came to meet him in his Sofunde Bus Stop campaign office, begging him to step down for him in the race but that he told him it was too late.

The DEFENDER had called the candidate to Accord confirm information from some supporters of the Speaker, who is candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the race, that he had stepped down for their leader.

Responding, Jubreel said: “I wish to assure my supporters and supporters of Accord Party all over that I and our party are still in the race and so, you should vote for me, vote for Accord on Saturday,” he said.

He said: “Obasa came to my office in Agege here and pleaded with with to please step down for him. But I said it is not retreat no surrender because it is too late.

“On Saturday, all our supporters should not be afraid of thugs like they used thugs to scare them away during the last elections. They should come out and vote for Accord Party.

“When you collect the ballot paper for the House of Assembly, look to the top, number one box there for thumb and you thumbprint in front of it.

“When you do this, we shall do everything possible to ensure that our votes count so that I can be able to actualise my dream to legislatively transformer your lives as good people of Agege Constituency 01 of Lagos State,” he said.

In the meantime, National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is father of Lagos APC has been been called upon to call the Lagos Speaker, Obasa, to order as electorate in Agege Constituency 01 are saying they will not allow his thugs to catch them unaware like they did during the presidential and national assembly elections in the area.

Although those that spoke with our reporter in Lagos on Monday said they were subjected to fear so much that they had no choice than to vote against their Accord Party Reps candidate due to intimidation by thugs armed with weapons, who are said to be working for Obasa.

Obasa is said to be the rallying point for all APC politicians including those going to Abuja during the elections.

It will be recalled that Accord Party members complained in a report published by The DEFENDER on Sunday that 90 percent of the polling units in Agege did not have security presence during the last elections and that it was reason thugs intimidated voters, especially their supporters.

They also called on Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Zubair Muazu, to ensure particularly that security lapses that happened during the last elections did not repeat itself in the coming state legislative election at Agege Constituency 01 of the state.

Buttressing his point on why Agege Constituency 01 is a big issue, Monsur Taiwo and Bosun, both Accord members, said it is because that is the Constituency of the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly.

They believed that there was no need for Obasa to ask Jubreel to step down for him because they are not candidates of the same party.

Jubreel Abdulkareem, who is former Chairman Agege Local Government, has overwhelming support and endorsement of the various interest groups and tribes in Agege Constituency 01 who are now resolved that whoever will block them from voting  him on Saturday can only be looking for serious trouble.

This, according to a youth group, is because, “Hon. Jubreel is the only politician that we can see his achievements as former chairman of the local government and it is therefore not possible for us to vote for somebody who has been there for close to 20 years and we don’t feel his impact.”
