*Why Tinubu is not factor in governor’s stoppage – Alausa sources

The legitimate members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State seem to be formally telling Governor of the state, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, that they truly do not want him to bear their governorship flag in the February 2018 election.

This is as the results reaching us so far from the ongoing governorship primary election in the state, this Tuesday, are virtually hurled into the Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s basket with a wide margin between what he and Ambode are getting.

While the update will be brought later as the exercise concludes, the results so far are: Mushin 1,Ward 2 Result; Sanwo-Olu– 4011, Ambode – 5; Kosofe LGA: Wards C, D, E & F; Sanwoolu 16,153; Ambode – 83; Ejigbo Ward F5 led by Hon. Bamgbetan (Commissioner for Information); Sanwo-Olu – 14, 490; Ward D2 , Lagos Island; Sanwoolu: 2280; Ambode: 0.

The latest development resulting from the Direct Primary mode of picking who represent the Party at the coming election may have laid to rest the controversies about who does not want the governor to continue.

The DEFENDER had during the weekend gathered from sources in Alausa, where the seat of Lagos Government is domiciled, that those who do not want the governor to continue are far apart from the influence that the acclaimed Garrison Commander at Bourdillon can control, reason, according to them, it appears the Party’s National Leader is playing his game along as if withdrawal of his support from his erstwhile godson has any weight in what is playing out.

One of the sources had told The DEFENDER that, “My Editor, there is nothing Asiwaju Tinubu can do to help Ambode because he just must not continue. He has been told that if it is his one vote that he thinks will save the governor’s job then, he should go on and let us see who wins in the end.

“That is the thing you are seeing. It is not as if it is Tinubu that is not wanting him; if that is the case, the level that Lagos politics has reached today, if Asiwaju would not toe the path of the party leadership in the state, he himself was likely to lose his relevance. That is it. You people are just writing what you think saying Asiwaju does not like Ambode’s face. No. Leave to him, Asiwaju does no wrong because what the governor has done is between him and his the godfather.

“How can you collect all the contracts and businesses that qualified party members run to live their lives and, by doing so, play their financial role to the party development and you expect to be let go? This is just the little I can release to you Sir. There are more. But, I knew since April of this year that time was up for this governor. That is it. Thank you,” she said.
