The lockdown in Lagos and Abuja took full effect on Tuesday from 11pm of Monday March 30, 2020.

This lockdown could not however take off in Ogun as earlier stated in the nationwide broadcast of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday to decision of the state government.

Although state government not cooperating with Federal Government’s precautionary measures towards stopping the Coronavirus pandemic has been described as one major risk and reason for the spread of the problem in Nigeria.

It was gathered that Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde’s avoidable Peoples Democratic Party’s large gathering in Ibadan which was said to have been attended by son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who was later tested positive of the disease, was one good example of how some state governors frustrate Federal Government’s effort.

Another example cited was Ejigbo, Osun State, through which The DEFENDER was told that Nigerians in Abidjan, Ivory Cost capital and surroundings entered the country even as government’s total shutdown – including to human traffic – is in effect in Nigeria.

The sources, which revealed that distribution of rice claimed to be going on by Lagos State government was mainly to members of party in power in the state, also called on Nigeria’s Federal Government to prevail in Government of the State of Osun to effect a lockdown that will stop entry into the state from ant neighbouring country or state.

This is as Federal Government confirmed the second death of the Coronavirus infection in the country.

Minister for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, stated this during the Presidential Taskforce Committee media briefing held on Monday.
