Kwara investor, Kamaru Yusuf, backs anti-Coronavirus fight with N20m

The management of KAM Holding, a leading indigenous manufacturer of Iron and Steel products in the nation, on Friday admonished Nigerians to ensure that strict compliance to government movement restrictions policy.

The firm noted that in order to stay safe and healthy, Kwarans must stay home and maintain public and personal hygiene as directed by health officials noting the COVID-19 is real and wreaking havoc globally.

The Group Managing Director/CEO of KAM Holding, Dr. Kamoru Yusuf, in a letter addressed to the Kwara State Government dated 3rd April 2020, donated the sum N20million to the State Committee on COVID-19 Support to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease to the state.

The boss, Dr. Yusuf was represented by the Executive Director, Corporate Services of the company, Mr. Bola Awojobi.

The letter read in parts: “Since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, various measures have been adopted by the federal government towards preventing the spread of the infectious disease beyond control while serious search for contacts of infected persons has also being intensified.

“Kwara State is not left out in the preventive measures despite the fact that no case has been reported in the State of Harmony due to the proactive efforts of the State Government under the leadership of our amiable governor, His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“It is pertinent to echo the painstaking efforts of the Kwara COVIID-19 Support Committee led by the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mr. Kayode Alabi, for ensuring that appropriate measures are recommended and executed at this auspicious moment of trial in the collective interests of the people of the state and Nigeria in general.

“However, it is important for us to wake up to the reality that COVID-19, an invisible soldier, is real and most importantly, it is wreaking havoc globally as evident in the daily reports of cases recorded in different parts of the world. It is therefore necessary for us to heed to government’s movement restrictions, stay at home, social distancing, maintenance of public and personal hygiene policies in order to stay safe and be free from contracting the infectious disease.

“As a responsible and responsive corporate organization, we have embarked on series of sensitization and awareness mechanisms for our workers on the basic tenets of preventive measures against coronavirus spread in our society.

“At this juncture, we commiserate with members of the global community over the loss of their loved ones, we condole with the government and people of Kwara State over the death of a prominent Kwara-born medical doctor, Dr. Alfa Saadu Pategi who lost his life to COVID-19 recently in the United Kingdom and we wish the infected persons quick recovery.

“On behalf of my family, the entire management and staff of KAM HOLDING, I am pleased to donate the sum of TWENTY MILLION NAIRA (N20, 000,000) to the government and people of Kwara State as palliatives to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
