Ladan Salihu, a political commentator and former Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation Of Nigeria, has made a significant claim regarding the 2019 elections in Gama ward, Kano State..

According to Salihu, Nasir Gawuna, the APC candidate in the recent gubernatorial election in the state, and his deputy gubernatorial candidate, Murtala Sule Garo, were allegedly arrested by the police during the 2019 elections.

Salihu maintained that the arrests were related to their involvement in causing chaos in Gama ward during the election.

In an interview with Arise TV, Salihu asserted that the arrests took place due to the candidates’ alleged role in unleashing mayhem during the electoral process.

He further claimed that the violence in Gama ward was severe enough to warrant the cancellation of the entire electoral ward. Notably,

Salihu suggested that the positions held by Gawuna and Garo allowed them to escape the full legal consequences of their actions, as people supposedly “looked the other way.”

Salihu emphasized the significance of recalling these events, urging Nigerians to remember the alleged arrest of Gawuna and Garo during the 2019 elections.

He raised concerns about the immunity associated with holding certain offices, implying that this immunity might have shielded the individuals from the legal ramifications they would have otherwise faced.

Hear him: “In Kano, in Gama ward, remember in 2019 elections – Nigerians should remember that the APC’s candidate, Gawuna was arrested by the police alongside the deputy gubernatorial candidate, Murtala Sule Garo but because he was in office and issues of immunity, people looked the other way. And why were they arrested? Because they unleashed mayhem and violence in an electoral ward that ought to have been cancelled completely, and they would not have been anywhere near power”.
