KANO EDUCATION: 6,500 indigenous students receive free JAMB forms from Gov Abba Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday 31st March 2024, flagged off the distribution of free JAMB forms to 6,500 secondary school students in his state of Kano.

The DEFENDER reports that the decision was done in the governor’s way of creating opportunities in pursuance of tertiary education by the state indigenes.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, flanked right by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, while distributing free UTME forms to 6,500 prospective candidates at Government House, in Kano, on Sunday 31th March 2024.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his Spokesperson, Mallam Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the gesture was symbolic of the government’s unwavering commitment to invest in the future of its citizens.

The governor said during the distribution that, “We believe that education is a bedrock of development and by empowering our students, our children would have access to quality education, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future for our dear state Kano.”

He used the opportunity to elaborate on the feats achieved by his government in developing the education sector in the last ten months including the re-introduction of foreign scholarships, payment of registration fees to Kano indigenes studying at Bayero University, Kano, re-opening of 21 Skills Acquisition institutes.

Others according to the governor are; the reduction of 50 per cent of registration fees in the state-owned tertiary institutions, Cash Conditional Transfer to Support Girls-Child education, and settlement of registration fees for NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS to mention but a few.

Yusuf urged all the beneficiary students to make the best use of the opportunity and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits saying that the future belongs to those who work tirelessly to turn dreams into realities.

He appreciated the JAMB Register, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the management and staff of the state Ministry of Education, and all other stakeholders who contributed to making the exercise a huge success as, according to him, it will help in projecting the state in its quest to take education to greater heights in the state.
