Jimeta, Yola North LG Chairman, mobilises support for Gov Fintiri on healthier environment

The Chairman of Yola North Local Government Council, Barr. Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta, has called for unity and collaboration among the legislative arm, directors, departmental heads, and staff to ensure effective governance.

His remarks came during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Secretary and Supervisory Councilors, held at the Yola North Local Government Secretariat.

Addressing the gathering, Barr. Jibril Ibrahim urged the people of Jimeta to support the Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, by participating in monthly sanitation efforts to promote a healthier state capital.

He praised the governor for granting autonomy to local government councils, even before the Federal Government officially enacted such measures.

The Chairman reminded the newly appointed officials that their positions, while based on merit, remain probationary, emphasizing that their performance and dedication will determine their continuity in office.

“Your appointments are probationary. Although based on merit, let me remind you that your performance will determine your future,” he stated.

Barr. Jibril also expressed gratitude for the support of security agencies in maintaining peace in the state capital and called on every individual to contribute to the development of Jimeta, which he referred to as a “new Jimeta for new development and new vision.”

He stressed that unity is key to fully realizing the dividends of democracy under the current administration.

In separate remarks, former Yola North Constituency representative in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Sajo Likki, and the PDP Chairman of Yola North Local Government, Abdullahi Sarki, urged the new appointees to lead with integrity and maintain an open-door policy. Both leaders prayed for peace and progress in Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.

The event saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, including the PDP Vice Chairman for the Central Zone, Alhaji Yahyaji Audu Gombi, Ustas Sufiyanu Liman, DG Senator Iya Abbas, Jimeta Elders, and Hon. Mohammed Baba Amin, among others.

The newly sworn-in officials include Hon. Maulud Ishaq as the Secretary of the council, and Supervisory Councilors Hon. Yahya Adamu (Doubeli Ward), Hon. Hafsat Yuguda (Nasarawo Ward), Hon. Bankule (Luggere Ward), Hon. Ali Garga (Limawa Ward), Adamu Uba (Ajiya Ward), and Hon. Musa Carlos (Adviser, Yelwa Ward for political matters).

The ceremony was marked by lively music and dance performances from enthusiastic PDP supporters, creating a festive atmosphere at the event.
